Max discovered his love for film through his role as a youth worker with vulnerable kids. Starting out with no formal training, he took to his mate’s camera and set out to capture shorts with the kids around him.
Before commercials, Max directed award-winning long-form work for the BBC and Channel 4, including The Street Kids World Cup, Kids Behind Bars, and Fighting With My Family. He took this documentary sensibility into the advertising industry, bringing his big hearted, performance-led approach to brands including Nike, Microsoft, Tesco, Red Cross and The Royal Navy.
His focus is on human connection through authentic performance, often using a blend of actors and non-actors in his work. He spends time getting under the skin of his cast, building trust and understanding what makes them tick, so when the camera rolls, the performances land with real intimacy.
